Truman Medical Center – Behavioral Health Center

Truman Medical Center – Behavioral Health Center

Location: Kansas City, Missouri
Year Completed: 2011
Size: 55,000 SF

HMN Architects partnered with Truman Medical Center to relocate their existing behavioral health clinic to the former Color Art Building in the historical crossroads district of Kansas City, Missouri. The building was originally constructed in the early 1900’s and was used as a Wells Fargo transfer station for horse drawn wagons.

The space was renovated and re-purposed into Truman Medical Center’s behavioral health center. The purpose of the new center is to service family, child and adult psychiatric patients, as well as provide rehabilitation services to the greater Kansas City and most of the western Missouri areas.

The behavioral health center houses psychiatric office space within an open office area. Training areas and group study spaces were also included. Additionally, two new elevators were added as well as new windows, HVAC, electrical and plumbing system renovations.
