Location: Columbia, Missouri
Year Completed: 2012
Size: 35,492 SF
The University of Missouri Health Care hired HMN Architects to renovate the 6th and 7th floors of the University Hospital, which would be left vacant by the relocation of the existing units to the Children’s Hospital.
The interior renovations provide a total of 72 new patient rooms, along with the necessary staff support spaces for these rooms. Additionally, the existing exterior window units in the renovated area were replaced.
The project includes:
- New, 28-bed nursing units on the east wing of the 6th and 7th floors, including all private patient rooms and support spaces. Four of these patient rooms are ADA accessible with six also designed as isolation rooms (two with anterooms)
- New, eight-bed nursing units on the southwest wings of the 6th and 7th floors, including all private patient rooms. Two of these patient rooms are isolation rooms (with anterooms) and ADA accessible
- Patient lifts in half of the patient rooms with infrastructure for future lifts in all rooms
- Replacement of exterior windows within the affected areas in the project with new modern units to match the look of the existing windows.
