University of Missouri Health Care – Hybrid Operating Room

Location: Columbia, Missouri
Year Completed: 2012
Size: 1,100 SF

HMN Architects teamed with the University of Missouri Health Care to convert two existing surgery rooms into one hybrid operating room. The new, hybrid room utilizes multi-axis imaging technology to assist in surgical procedures via the new Siemens Artis Zeego. This is known to be the first hospital installation of this piece of equipment in the state of Missouri.

New finishes were incorporated in the room, including epoxy flooring, an epoxy wall covering system, epoxy painted ceilings, stainless-steel and phenolic casework, durable doors with stainless steel hardware and stainless-steel door and window frames. The room also features seven new ceiling mounted equipment booms for anesthesia, monitoring, lighting, power and medical gases. These booms and their movement ranges were coordinated heavily with the ranges of the Artis Zeego and the space constraints of the existing wall layout.
