Olathe Health Cancer Center Making History

Olathe Health Cancer Center

Olathe Health Cancer Center – The Final Phase of Olathe Health’s Largest Expansion in History

HMN Architects partnered with Olathe Health to design a new 29,000 square-foot, free-standing Cancer Center. The state-of-the-art facility was celebrated with a ribbon cutting and dedication ceremony on Tuesday, February 27. The Olathe Health Cancer Center houses the latest technology and services available for treating cancer patients.

Visitors are welcomed under a drop-off canopy and enter into a soaring, two-story lobby featuring a stone clad fireplace and a wood ceiling. The space provides an uplifting patient experience with warm finishes and large art installations. Off the lobby, a large conference room features floor to ceiling windows taking advantage of natural day-lighting and exterior views. The Olathe Health Cancer Center also contains an Appearance Center Boutique offering products and services to support each patient’s unique needs, as they undergo treatment.

The new infusion area has 10 semi-private bays and six private suites that will deliver chemotherapy, immunotherapy, biotherapy and hormone therapy. This portion of the building is designed to provide a serene, comfortable setting with views focusing on an outdoor healing garden with water features.

The new linear accelerator (LINAC) is one of the most advance radiation technologies available today. Radiation therapy is used in the treatment of two-thirds of all cancer patients. The radiation therapy suite also features a multi-slice CT, advanced treatment planning system, physics equipment for quality control and brachytherapy.

Additional on-site services include: 11 oncology exam rooms, a laboratory for convenient access to blood draws and lab results, and a pharmacy designed for the requirements of USP 800.

The Olathe Health Cancer Center is the latest addition to the Olathe Medical Center campus. HMN is proud to continue their working relationship with Olathe Health, after finishing up The Birth Place, their new 109,000 square-foot, four-story obstetrics tower in May 2017. The new Cancer Center is the final phase of the largest expansion in Olathe Health’s history.
