HMN Architects partnered with Stoddard County, in collaboration with Robert Stearnes and Associates (Sikeston, MO), to design an addition and remodel of the existing 24-bed jail. The initial plan added 44 beds, but as the design and construction process progressed, the county opted to incorporate alternate designs and infill previously designated shell space, further increasing capacity to address overcrowding.
The expanded facility required a redesigned booking and intake area, featuring a secure drive-through sallyport, medical evaluation and holding cells, as well as all necessary support spaces for feeding and managing the increased inmate population.
Since the start of our project, [HMN] has nothing but our best interests in mind. They have guided us in the proper direction for a state-of-the-art facility for the citizens of Stoddard County. They are always available to take phone calls, emails or in person visits. As with any construction project there have been unforeseen issues and needs, and at no time has HMN not been able to resolve the issue or meet our need. HMN has been a great architect firm to work with and I feel Stoddard County made the correct decision using them for our project.
