In partnership with the University of Kansas Medical Center (KUMC), this office-building renovation brings together two research hubs under one roof. The facility now houses KUMC’s clinical and translational research programs, and incorporates the Heartland Institute for Clinical and Translational Research (HICTR). It also supports cancer clinical trials as part of the university’s pursuit of National Cancer Institute Comprehensive Cancer Center designation.
Both the cancer program and HICTR contribute to a major national effort to strengthen and streamline clinical research, accelerating the movement of laboratory discoveries and clinical findings into new treatments and healthcare practices. By consolidating these activities, the facility enhances communication, improves the patient experience, and provides dedicated space for education and community engagement.
"This project has required extensive coordination of architectural and engineering concepts while ensuring planning provides facilities for collaborative work among many diverse divisions."
