South Tower Expansion & Renovation

The new three-story addition at Citizens Memo rial Hospital has delivered substantial benefits to the community, significantly improving access to healthcare across southern Missouri. As demand continued to outgrow the capabilities of the existing facility, the expansion increased capacity and strengthened the hospital’s ability to serve a growing regional population.

The addition and renovation features a highly efficient design that integrates the emergency department, surgery, interventional imaging, and patient care units into a streamlined layout. Each department is equipped with advanced technologies that enhance staff workflow, improve operational efficiency, and support better patient outcomes. The design also improves wayfinding and clearly separates public circulation from back-of house operations.

The hospital’s front entrance was also reimagined to create a more welcoming and community- focused experience. A new main lobby, information desk, gift shop, coffee shop, and cafeteria enhance both comfort and convenience for all users. These thoughtfully designed public spaces not only support an elevated standard of care, but also strengthen the hospital’s role as a vital community resource and gathering place.
