After a 2014 referendum failed due to concerns about cost and public perception, HMN Architects partnered with Benton County to re-evaluate the project and develop new strategies for the facility’s design. By building a strong working relationship between our justice team and the sheriff, the county secured community support, leading to a successful 74% approval in the 2018 vote. The resulting facility features an 80-bed jail and a small courtroom/hearing room, allowing high-risk inmates to be arraigned or tried on-site. Housing units incorporate a mix of cell sizes, all positioned for direct visibility from a secure central control station.

When I had questions or concerns about the project, you were always available and helpful. I have received calls from other governmental agencies asking how we were able to accomplish this project successfully and I am happy to advise them that contracting with a firm like yours is a sure way to a successful outcome.
