Dodge City, KS
Date of Completion
2009

The new Ford County Jail is a 256-bed facility with an integrated Sheriff’s Office, designed to expand to a total capacity of 500 beds. The jail incorporates a blend of direct and indirect supervision models; using open, raised control posts within the satellite housing stations. These stations provide officer protection while maintaining direct oversight of housing and circulation areas.

Each housing pod includes its own programming and recreation space, minimizing inmate movement throughout the facility. Flexibility is built into the design through individual cells sized for double-bunking and dayrooms scaled to match. The facility also includes a juvenile holding area with sight and sound separation, a negative air pressure medical unit, and separate male and female work-release spaces; each with dedicated entrances apart from the general population.

From our very first meeting prior to selecting this firm, we have found HMN to be enthusiastic, responsive to our ideas, and team oriented.
