Project Description
HMN Architects has been an active partner with Olathe Medical Center since 2012, providing planning, architectural and interior design services. Olathe Medical Center is a 209-Bed facility located in Olathe, Kansas providing a full-range of medical services.
In 2013, HMN was engaged to design OMC’s new Obstetrics/ Neonatal Intensive Care Unit and Kitchen Expansion project. All existing OB services planned to be relocated to the new patient tower. The four-story addition is an extension of the new main entry and kitchen, tying into the first floor of the existing hospital.
The first floor comprises the new main entry for the hospital and a dedicated entry for the new OB and NICU. Level two contains 13,632 SF NICU unit; a new service being provided for the hospital. The third level is dedicated to the Labor and Delivery Suites and other surgical areas. Fourth floor houses the Postpartum Unit and Nursery, and other visitor support space.
Project Progress Update:
The OB/ NICU project at Olathe Medical Center is less than one year from opening. The exterior skin is progressing rapidly. Brick is about 80% complete and the curtain wall continues to be installed along the north and east sides. Roofing installation has started on the building’s high roofs. On the interior, walls are being framed on every floor, along with the installation of mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems. Project completion is on schedule for March of 2017.
