Quick Q&A:

Why do you love being an architect?

It is a profession where you learn new things and meet new people on every project.

What is your proudest moment at HMN?

Every time we have a client that offers a testimony about their experience working with us is a proud moment for me. We’ve had some great clients on some great projects.

Interesting fact about yourself?

I have never had any interest in writing until after I recovered from an accident in 1989. I was 28 years old at the time and I shattered my left arm racing a mountain bike. A lot of things changed that year including my thoughts on doing things I enjoyed so I decided to begin writing about things that I had taken for granted. Having a compromised left arm ended a lot of my sports interests but thankfully, I was still able to pursue a lot of other outdoor activities that I loved. Exploring my passion for outdoor activities became an easy outlet for my writing. I started writing simple recollections and accounts of bowhunts in an organizations newsletter and as I gained confidence, I began submitting stories to the National Field Archery Associations (NFAA) magazine, Archery. Those stories were read by a few of the editors of the mainstream national publications and I was then given the opportunity to submit my work to an editor. Since that first submission in Peterson’s Bowhunting, I’ve had stories published in Eastman’s Bowhunting, Trophy Hunter, Bowhunter, Trail of the Sportsman and Bowhunting World with several editors publishing my work in several issues over the years. I have also been invited to join the Kansas Outdoor Writers Association and Professional Outdoor Media Association (POMA). My English teachers are dumbfounded! Ha-Ha!

Below is the January/February issue of Bowhunter, where one of Shawn Harding’s articles is published.
